Surprise!!! No bears this time. This was a real pleasure to make. The ducks are from an issue of quilters companion. The volume and issue no. I cant recall, and I have since loaned the book to a friend. But it all looked very boring and the poor little ducks looked very lonely all by themselves, so I found a page in my grandkids coloring book of a hideous looking duck but the reeds and leaves looked great. They just needed a few minor adjustments, ie: enlarging and mirror imaging a couple of things. Then I just added some grass and water ripples and the ducks started to look like they were having some fun. I finished it off with a block with a little rhyme my daughter made up for me. The alternating blocks are 'disappearing nine patch' blocks with a border around them. The color was also going out of my comfort zone, but I survived the journey, and I am quite satisfied with the result.

This quilt was made for a friend of my daughter who wants to give it to her grand-daughter for the birth of their baby boy due very shortly. It was adapted from a pattern given to me by a fellow quilter friend. I enlarged the size of the applique and chose to alternate the applique blocks with a simple nine patch block.
